Function

The Ministry of Communications and Transport shall exercise its airport and aeronautic authority by way of the DGAC, represented by the Captain of Mexico City's International Airport. The duties and activities of the General Commanding Office are governed in accordance with the stipulations of the Airport and Civil Aviation Law and its Regulations, as well as the General Communication Roads Law, Official Mexican Standards and other applicable laws, for the compliance of national and international safety levels that must be maintained for operation of the AICM, carrying out the following main activities among others:

The following inspection and supervision is carried out daily and according to schedule: airport facilities, aircraft, technical aeronautics personnel, supervision in accordance with the standards and regulations, identification and removal of act, attitudes and conditions that represent risk. Accident and incident investigation. Coordinate and instrument the safety systems and procedures in force. The DGAC also coordinates its efforts with other federal authorities in order to guarantee safety of flights and the airport.
