Mission
The presence of modern and efficient transport services for domestic and foreign passengers determine the demand for a structure of epidemiologic surveillance in international health in the areas of airports, seaports and land positions with international traffic. All this operation aims to prevent the spread in the country of the diseases considered object of international epidemiological surveillance, according to the rules, laws, national and international regulations (IHR), to prevent the modern and efficient passenger transport systems, both national and international, from spreading diseases that trigger epidemiological outbreaks or quarantinable diseases to the population.
International Health is responsible for implementing the policies in international health and preventive medicine that regulate the handling of immigrants and emigrants in transit at ports of arrivals and departures. The International Health Services rely on public health services of the Federal District and work in coordination with the Department of Epidemiology, based on the IHR and international organizations like the World Health Organization - Pan American Health Organization (WHO-PAHO). These areas are responsible for carrying out epidemiological surveillance, prevention and control of epidemiological diseases (eradication, control and elimination, including measures against emerging diseases)..
